On October 11, 2019 Vyara Michailova (EducArt) held a training Working with bilingual children for participants of the program Teach for Bulgaria. The training focused on the specific needs of teachers who work with children whose native language is not Bulgarian. First the acquisition of Bulgarian as a second language and the various types of bilingualism were considered. Afterwards strategies for vocabulary enlargement and the development of text literacy as well as language correction techniques, which can be applied in class in different subjects, were presented, reflected and tried out.
The integrated language learning support strategies used in this training were developed as part of the joint project of Teach for Bulgaria and EducArt “The 3 Ts: Interaction of Teachers, the Taught and Teaching Materials“.
